Faced with cratering poll numbers, a U.S. president agrees to a plot having Islamic radicals kidnap an ambassador so he can "negotiate" his release in turn for the "Blind Shaykh," currently in prison for the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. The president hopes that the Blind Shaykh's return to Egypt will strengthen the hand of the Muslim Brotherhood to corral Islam's more radical terrorist groups and unite all Sunni Muslims with Turkey in a resurrected Ottoman Empire aimed at keeping the Russian bear caged. But when the kidnap operation falls apart and four Americans are killed at the U.S. consulate in Aleppo, the administration goes into full cover-up mode. Only undercover agent Matt Nolan knows the full truth of what happened in Aleppo–placing him number one on the Administration's enemies list. As Russia threatens war over the Ottoman Empire plot, Matt has to dodge numerous assassination attempts in his desperate effort to return to the U.S. to testify before Congress, put a stop to the Ottoman Empire plot, and defuse WWIII.

The Aleppo File - edition by Barry Webb. Literature & Fiction eBooks @ . Reviews
The Aleppo File is an action packed thriller that will keep your interest from beginning to end. As the story moves forward, the reader will soon realie the characters and events, although fictional and a few years in the future, seem very much like events we witnessed recently.
The Aleppo File is a must read for all Americans. An exciting fiction story that turns out to be a revelation of facts and events that were either
distorted or withheld from the American public.

Another great literary effort by Barry Webb! I especially enjoyed the second half, where the action was really fast paced; but the entire book was well written. Barry's writings, thus far, have provided me with, not only an enlightening, educational glimpse of the past, but also with a suspenseful plot that kept me eager to read on. Indeed, I often found myself burning the "midnight oil", in an endeavor to find out "just a little bit more" of what was going to happen to the various characters. There's a section, for example, involving Komodo dragons (lizards), one of the bad guys and a beautiful woman that will have you biting your nails. Highly recommended if you enjoy a good, action thriller.
Barry Webb's latest novel is a revelation. The writing is skillful, the plot lines intricate and expertly woven to provide a fast-paced, engrossing read. The characters are vividly drawn in detail, which adds to the compelling realism of the story. Yes, these same kudos could be applied to a dozen thrillers currently available, but what sets The Aleppo file apart is Mr. Webb's impressive knowledge of the history of the near- and middle-east, and his recent, intimate experiences with its politics. Those politics are now tragically interwoven with the politics of the U.S. through threats of harm from domestic terrorism to the unthinkable possibility of WWIII. This book does not flinch from contemplating those horrific possibilities. My only criticism is with a few punctuation and grammatical errors, which most readers won't notice or care about. The Author's Note at the end of the book is ample compensation for any such tiny flaw. Good job, Barry Webb!!!
Although set five years in the future, The Aleppo File reads like current events. Author Barry Webb's expert knowledge of the U.S. military, intelligence services domestic and foreign, history and current affairs of the Middle East and its languages add to the verisimilitude of the novel. This novel, grounded in current reality, adds to the reader's knowledge and suspicions regarding contemporary political personages and machinations of the U.S. government in foreign policy, manipulation of the news, and intimidation of dissenters.
One of the many appeals of the Aleppo File is its relevance to current events. Barry Webb knows his stuff from his experience in the intelligence community. The setting and situations ring true. Matt Nolan and other characters are believable and fully developed. The reader become engaged with the story quickly and action carries the story forward to make it a page turner. Historical information tucked in the action adds interest to the plot. It is an authentic, interesting read.
