Absolutely fantastic! Jex finds an impressive way to show depression as a physical change as well as a mental one, in a way that's completely relatable. If I didn't have work, I would have read it all in one sitting. As it was, I was up way too late, determined to see how everything worked out. This is a darker book with some pretty serious themes that might hit others in the wrong way, but they felt like they -needed- to be part of the book for the main character's growth, not just tossed in there for fun. Jex has definitely been added to my list of "Authors I Adore"!

Broken Picks up where Sire left and the first 1/3 of the book was so hard to read, for one Matthew's situation somehow regressed to a state worse than it was in book one. In Malarath's care Matthew became worse than a slave, he was nothing but a plaything, all the self respect and freedom Matthew fought so hard to gain in Sire was destroyed. Matthew was in a dark place mentally as well as physically. I wondered if it was necessary to completely break Matthew down, however it's true that when someone hit rock bottom and they can't drop any further the only way left is to go up. The second half of Broken is a beautiful tale of redemption and forgiveness as Matthew slowly climbs out of the rock bottom that is his current life and forms connection with people again. He is forced to give trusting Tarrick another attempt and make the best out of his present situation and slowly fight back against Malarath's dominion over the Incubi. There are so many twists and turns in Broken and the book is packed jam full of agonizing emotion stemming from the loss of Devak in the previous book. Many (but not all) of my questions were answered and even more popped up as the ending drew to a close, and in true Beautiful Monster fashion... the ending is a big flipping cliffhanger. The wait for the next book predicted to be in 2018 to be frank will be agony for me. Considering it's only been a month since I discovered this series, and in that time I purchased and reread it twice already. Not to mention 2018?! Yes I'm writhing in agony right now because that's 9 months of waiting! 9 months of waiting to find out more about the truth of Matthew's heritage (his true name for one) and to connect with the cliffhanger and to read more about my beloved characters of his series. Oh Jex Lane what have you done to me.
The Best One Yet!
An Intense Ride That I never want to get off!!

Mrs. Lane is an absolute Brilliant storyteller in my honest opinion. She Makes you think the storyline is going in One Direction, laughs in your face while she flips you upside-down then sends your ass 180° Direction. So then you think "Okay I know how this author thinks so I bet 'blah-blah-blah' will happen." She laughs again, flips u back ass up & and sends you in a 90-degree directions before you can even think where it's going she flips you face 1st into a 45° angle. Sometimes she feels sorry for you and decides to give something and allows your theories come to fruition. Now ya'll might be smarter than me & figure things out. Well Where's the fun in that?

I love that this author was consciousness enough to give comedy relief inside and intense book.
There are some really laugh out loud parts of this book that are definately needed due to the intense ride you are thrown on. This has some really dark elements. You see characters that you love tortured. There are Non Con, horrific torture & neglect. While they struggle, they loose hope & it Kills You. This story stabs you in your heart!

I loved seeing Tarrick & Matthew together again. I loved where this story goes. I hate having to wait do long for the next book but would rather Ms. Lane take her time & do it right than giving us a story that is not done. Besides you can't rush perfection. And to me, That's what this book was. Absolute Perfection!
Broken, is the 3rd book in a series 1st you need to read Captive and Sire. This is my favorite book in the series so far. I don't want to give away the plot but get this book now!

The author writes so well and so vividly that you care about all the major characters and many of the minor ones. You may want to hug some or kill some ( or both to the same person ) but you will care what happens to them.

Besides an incredible story, the books are well written which makes them even more fun to read
