Warning - Make sure you have a box of tissue when you read this book! I was crying in the beginning, middle and end of this book!!Kayley Carson is a young widow who just lost her husband and is pregnant with their first child. I can’t even imagine how this must feel but I thought the author did a great job of expressing Kayley’s emotions. Kayley felt the pain of losing her husband and the guilt of trying to live again, and I felt the author’s portrayal was realistic. Although Kayley is suffering she is a strong independent woman who is devoted to her family and friends. Kayley was surrounded by very supportive family and friends, who were characters that I were drawn too and really enjoyed getting to know.
Just when Kayley is hit with another crisis she meets Ben (aka Dr. Yummy). Ben is a sexy doctor who is drawn to Kayley. He is attracted to her but is very sensitive towards her recent loss, which I found very charming. He is sexy and very romantic, and I loved the chemistry he had with Kayley. I also loved his relationship with Kayley’s daughter, Alexis. It was so sweet and heartwarming! I thought the author made a great choice in including Alexis in the scenes and dialogue between the characters. Alexis is so adorable she served as a reminder that life does have to continue, and she brought so much joy to the story!
I really enjoyed that this book focused on Ben and Kayley. We do meet their friends and family, but this was truly their story. I loved getting to know them and I was satisfied with the ending. But I did feel sad at the end, I had grown so close to Ben, Kayley and Alexis that I hated to say goodbye! Over all I thought this was well written but I did feel some of the flashbacks were not necessary and did not blend well with the story. But this was a great debut for L.L. Collins and I look forward to reading more from her!

This is a wonderful debut novel that will have you riding the rollercoaster of emotions; loss, heartache, survival, happiness, friendship, and love.
Kayley thought her dream had come true when she married Alex, her college best friend. Like many stories in real life, happiness was not in store for them. Tragedy strikes and Kayley is left alone and pregnant, with her anguish breaking her to the point where she doesn’t know how she will survive. When Alexis is born, Kayley pours all her love into her daughter and neglects herself. Fate strikes and she meets Dr. Ben Nicols (Dr. Yummy), a pediatric doctor who tends to Alexis.
Their story is one of love for the ages. Kayley doesn’t know how to let herself fall in love again, although she is extremely attracted to him. Friends and family help her see that she is allowed to feel again and live her life with a man who shows devotion to her and her daughter.
Ben is just what she needs. He is sweet, passionate, and shows her he loves her daughter as if she was his own. This obviously helps in her decision to give him a chance.
I loved this story. Kayley and Ben have a love that knows no boundaries. They love each other wholeheartedly and help each other mend their broken souls. They are so passionate together, but also had light moments where their funny sides shone. Ben and Alexis had such a special relationship that made me oooohhh and aaaahhh… she is such a wonderful little girl, maybe one of the best fictional children I’ve read about.
I recommend everyone to read Living Again, but make sure to have boxes of Kleenex handy.
This book will turn you inside out! it was highly recommended by several wonderful women whose opinions i value. So after they all pitched in and sent me the whole series I followed their advice, grabbed the box of tissues and settled in to read.
Now I have read several books that have touched me, but none quite like this. I think I made it to about 4% before the tears started.
Kayley is an amazing woman who learns all to soon that tomorrow isn't promised. She has an amazing support system that does everything in their power to push her along in her healing process, but to no avail.
Dr. Ben has been broken once before and is perfectly happy to have no strings attached sex for the rest of his life. A "yummy" renowned pediatrician working in the e.r. , his job fulfills him.
As if 1 tragedy per book wasn't hard enough to get through, 1 year and 1 month after Kayley's life took a drastic turn, she finds herself pacing the same E.r. waiting room, praying this time the outcome is different.
Who would've thought you could find love in a hospital?
Collins has a way with words, from the first chapter i knew i was in trouble, she had me hook, line, and sinker.
I fell in love with every single one of the characters. Watching Kayley go through the pain of such a significant loss, and feel broken, only to eventually start to put her pieces back together was a highly emotional journey. Learning not only to live again, but to love, trust, and let her guard down was a series of ups and downs that again had me reaching for those tissues.
Her best friend Emily had me cracking up, she's that one friend we all should be so lucky to have, the one that knows all your secrets, can make you laugh and will hold you while you cry, but will also give it to you straight when you're being an idiot!
And Dr. Ben.... Swoonworthy X's 10! usually when men cry in books it doesn't effect me, but God I wanted to hold that man and tell him how perfect he is while asking him if he could give my husband a few pointers!
I'm just getting ready to start book 2 Reaching Rachael, and I'm running out of tissues so I'm a little worried.
